Meet the Sculptor

Jonathan Krawczyk
ARTIST STATEMENT

Designer & Sculptor for A Piece Of Freedom Medallions and the famous iron cross from the wreckage of the 9/11 incident located at the St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Lower Manhattan.

Sculpture is the means by which Jonathan Krawczyk creates tangible forms from human experience. For the past 18 years, he has explored the possibility of solid metal as a means of expressing a myriad of gestures, movements, and emotions. Krawczyk celebrates metal in all its forms, from its purest most unquantifiable essence, introducing gesture as antithetical to the material.

Krawczyk is also deeply inspired by organic shapes in nature and the inherent beauty of metal as a singular and uncompromising material. His love of metal is reflected in his chosen subject matter as he seeks to create luminous images, conjoining technical skill with his own life experience, drawing out each form separately.
